Become a volunteer
We are always in need of extra pairs of hands to help out at our centres. So if you fancy grooming the donkeys, supporting the children or anything else which may be of help, then please contact us (please remember to let us know which Centre you are interested in volunteering at).
Sue Molland helps out at EST Sidmouth with grooming, tacking up the donkeys, supporting the children, leading the donkeys, exercising the donkeys and anything else she can do to help.
Sue comes from a farming background and wanted to carry on working with animals. The bonus of volunteering at EST is that she helps children and can see the pleasure they get from riding therapy.
"I'm also encouraged to be involved with makaton (communicating with signs and symbols) and other training that's available - there is always something to learn."
Sue recalls a little girl with limited sight and hearing who sat on a donkey and when the donkey moved she was really excited and her face lit up.
"When you see the children's personal development grow over a period of time that is truly wonderful.
EST really is a great place to be a volunteer!"
