Ways to support

Adopting a donkey is a wonderful way to support the work of the Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys. We have five Centres based around the UK (Sidmouth, Leeds, Ivybridge, Manchester and Birmingham) each of which provides riding to children with special needs and disabilities as well as taking the donkeys into residential homes, hospices and schools.

What is an adoption?

A year's adoption of your chosen donkey will cost £16. For this you will receive a folder containing a Certificate of Adoption, details of your adopted donkey with colour picture, and a lovely A4 pencil drawing. After six months you will then be sent a letter updating you on what your donkey has been doing.

Can I buy an adoption for my friend?

Many of our supporters have been bought their donkey adoption as a gift by a friend. The pack can be sent to their address and if you request, we will put in a card with your personalised note

Can I visit my adopted donkey?

All of the EST Centres are open to visitors preferably by appointment, so you can visit your adopted donkey throughout the year; the staff are always willing to chat with visitors about the donkeys.

How do I renew the adoption of my donkey?

Shortly before the adoption of your donkey expires we will send you a letter offering you the opportunity to adopt your donkey for the coming year. If you chose to continue you may use the form provided and send it back to us or alternatively use the online adoption renewal facility.

There are 20 donkeys for you to choose from, four at each EST Centre:
