In August, EST Sidmouth held its first ever Charity Summer Ball in order to raise funds for the Centre’s Sensory Trail Ride project. Held in the events marquee in the Adoption paddock, staff and volunteers spent the day transforming the marquee into a gorgeous venue for he evening.
As the start of the evening approached and the final touches were being made, staff were delighted to see the sun burst through the clouds for the first time all day, just in time for the guests’ arrival.
After being met by a glass of bubbly and canapé reception, guests soon found their seats for the evening and settled down for the delicious buffet dinner, followed by dessert, coffee, cheese and biscuits. As they enjoyed their meal, a magician entertained the guests with a variety of different tricks before handing over to TV auctioneer, Graham Barton, to get the bidding underway.
Plenty of guests enjoyed a game of Fun Bingo where one lucky winner won a £100 voucher towards a stay at the Kingswood and Devoran Hotel in Sidmouth.
As the live auction began, everyone really got into the spirit and managed to secure some fantastic prizes.
Exeter based band, Basher Tate, then took to the stage for their first set, filling the dance floor during their first performance of the night. During the band's short interval between sets, Graham Barton announced the winners of the Silent Auction and re-auctioned the Fun Bingo prize as the winner kindly donated it back to raise more funds for the project.
With Basher Tate’s second set of the night underway, there was only one thing left to do; enjoy the remainder of the evening and rock out on the inflatable air guitars!
All in all it was a fantastic evening and we couldn’t have wished for better support from everyone. After adding up all the money for the event we managed to raise a whopping £7,226. All profits from this event will go towards EST Sidmouth’s Sensory Trail Ride project.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped and supported the EST team with this event.
The bar team did amazingly well and kept the drinks flowing throughout.
So much hard work and effort went in to making it a success; it really wouldn’t have been possible without each and every one of you. After such a successful first year the EST team are keen to make it an annual event and already have ideas for next year, so watch this space!
