Edinburgh Marathon
EST has two charity running places at next year's Edinburgh Marathon taking place on Sunday 31st May 2009.
The Edinburgh Marathon is the second largest marathon in the UK after The Flora London Marathon. The 26.2 mile long scenic route has been designed for runners to see as many aspects of Scotland's wonderful capital and scenic eastern coastlines as possible.
The race has a unique atmosphere provided by en route entertainment including pipers lining the final mile to play the runners over the finish line in Holyrood Park.
You can either apply for one of EST's assured places or run with a place you have secured yourself. Whichever option you choose EST will support you every step of the way with a fantastic package that includes official sponsorship forms, fundraising advice and T-Shirt to wear on the day of the race.
Guaranteed places
The only difference is that in return for an assured place EST asks you to pay a deposit of £50 and to pledge to raise a minimum of £500 from sponsorship or through fundraising activities. This requirement exists because of the higher cost to EST of supplying and administering an assured place. On the other hand, there is no minimum pledge required for a runner who has secured his or her own place in the event.
If you'd like more information about applying for one of our guaranteed places for the Edinburgh Marathon 2009 please contact Tina Payne on 01395 573133.
If you don't fancy a full marathon and would prefer to rope in others too, why not enter the 2009 Edinburgh Marathon's Hairy Haggis Team Relay event instead? The full marathon distance is divided between a team of four, averaging at between 5 and 8 miles each. As with the full marathon, you and your team mates can run for EST with either an Assured Team Place (comprising of a £50 deposit and a pledge to raise at least £500 between the four of you) or a team place you have secured yourself (the cost of entry is £100 per team). Please go to the Edinburgh Marathon website for more details.
