Donkey to attend Droylsden's Palm Sunday Service
A donkey from a Manchester-based children's riding centre will be leading the Palm Sunday service procession for St Andrew's Church at Droylsden this weekend from 10am.
For the third year running, 17-year old Molly, from The Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys (EST) at Debdale Park, will lead the procession to the Church.
Molly is one of 17 donkeys currently cared for by the EST charity and helps provide riding therapy sessions to children with special needs and disabilities.
Debbie Coombes, who runs EST Manchester, says: "Molly has a beautiful cross on her back, making her an ideal donkey to help with St Andrew’s Palm Sunday service. She has a lovely temperament and enjoys human contact; she is a very confident donkey and will be at ease with the task required of her.
"It's a wonderful opportunity for us to contribute and the donkeys really do help to make a tactile link to the biblical Easter story. We support our local churches and those connected to our volunteers who give their time and support so generously."
Anyone interested in visiting or supporting the Centre can do so by calling 0161 301 4051 or visiting the EST Manchester website.
