Tandem jump in aid of children and donkeys

A daring lady from Leeds and seven of her friends will be jumping 14,500ft in aid of a donkey riding therapy charity for children with special needs based in Eccup on Saturday 1st August.

Paula Godfree, regional fundraising assistant for The Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys (EST) is taking part in the charity parachute jump at Cark Airfield in Cumbria to help raise funds for a sensory room at its centre in Leeds.

Cathryn Williams who runs the establishment says: “We are extremely grateful to Paula and her friends for taking on this challenge. Children who are waiting to ride the donkeys will be able to relax in the room which will be fitted with specialist lighting, brightly coloured carpet, touch and feel buttons and tranquil music.

“We are hoping to transform an old windowless office into a magical sensory room with the help from donations such as Paula’s.”

EST provides over 160 children with valuable riding therapy at its centre each week. It makes no charges to the schools or parents whose children attend its centres based around the UK and receives no government funding. Staffing is strongly supported by a dedicated group of volunteers who help with the riding sessions.
