Donkey riding centre in need of volunteers
A donkey riding centre for children with special needs based in Ivybridge is appealing this week for volunteers to join its Parents and Friends Association (PFA).
The aim of the PFA group is to support The Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys (EST) by helping raise funds for its cause and to encourage parents, friends and supporters to be involved with its work.
Bob Venn who runs the centre in Ivybridge says: ”Our PFA team saves us a large amount of time by organising fun social evenings such as Barn Dances and quiz nights along with helping raise funds for our new outside riding area. Our PFA team is completely invaluable to us as the funds they raise help towards the running costs of our charity.”
The EST centre in Ivybridge accommodates over 150 children with special needs and disabilities in the surrounding area each week. It makes no charge to the schools or parents whose children attend and staffing is strongly supported by a dedicated group of volunteers who help with the riding sessions.
