Adopt a donkey weekend in Birmingham

Oscar

A special ‘Adopt a Donkey’ weekend is being held at a donkey-riding centre based in Sutton Park on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th November 2009 from 11am to 2pm and it’s free to attend!

Visitors will be invited to ‘adopt a donkey’ at The Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys (EST) which provides free riding-therapy to children with special needs throughout Birmingham and the surrounding area.

Sue Brennan, who runs the centre, says: “We have four adorable donkeys available on our adoption scheme, Charlie C, Donk Dean, Moses and Oscar, who will be waiting to greet visitors. Adopting a donkey makes a unique Christmas gift and the annual fee is just £16.”

Adopters will receive a pack which includes details of the adopted donkey, a beautiful drawing, an adoption certificate and a twice yearly report. A DVD of the donkey group is also available to purchase.

Sue continues: “Visitors will also have the opportunity to relax over a cup of tea and a slice of cake and will be able to find out more about the services that we have on offer in the area.”

The EST centre in Sutton Park accommodates over 150 children with special needs and disabilities in the surrounding area each week. It makes no charge to the schools or parents whose children attend and staffing is strongly supported by a dedicated group of volunteers who help with the riding sessions.
