My retirement
I probably don’t need to introduce myself as I’ve been at the Slade Centre for donkeys’ years now, but in case you don’t know me; I am Daniel P, the tallest and oldest donkey at EST Sidmouth!
The other day I learnt of some very important news; in September I am going to be retiring! I heard my grooms saying that after 16 years of working as a riding therapy donkey, it might be time I started taking life a bit easier. I must admit, I’m not quite as agile as I used to be and it will be nice to have some time to relax in the field and put my hooves up. I do love being with the children in the arena and I hope they will still come to visit me.
Now I’m not so busy working, I have decided to start keeping a Diary, so I can let you all know what I’ve been up to at the Adoption Paddock. Apparently, the EST staff are planning a retirement party for me sometime in September. They think it will be a surprise, but with these big ears, I can usually hear what my grooms are planning.
I will listen out and let you know more about it soon. I hope there’s going to be plenty of carrot cake!
