Ivybridge EST celebrates National Volunteers' Week
On Wednesday 2nd June, EST Ivybridge will be recognising its dedicated team of volunteers as part of National Volunteers’ Week (1st – 7th June).
Staff will be holding a BBQ on Wednesday evening to thank its team of over 70 volunteers who assist in providing donkey riding therapy and in visiting 119 local nursing homes to provide pet therapy to residents. The volunteers will also be able to test their skills in traditional games such as horseshoe pitching and roll-a-ball.
Bob Venn, manager at the Ivybridge centre, says: “National Volunteers’ Week gives us a fantastic opportunity to say a huge thank you to our team of committed volunteers. Our volunteers help in various ways such as leading the rides, supporting the children or grooming the donkeys, providing tremendous support to our staff and to the children who visit our centre.”
The EST centre in Ivybridge accommodates over 150 children with special needs and disabilities from 29 local schools each week and is entirely reliant on donations to carry out its work.
