On Sunday 11th July, will be recognising its dedicated team of volunteers as a follow up to National Volunteers’ Week.

Staff will be holding a friends and family day to thank its team of over 100 volunteers who assist in providing donkey riding therapy and in visiting 120 local nursing homes to provide pet therapy to residents. During the day, volunteers will be able to bring friends and family to take part in a celebratory ‘posh’ picnic with tables and candelabras. Guests will also be able to see ‘behind the scenes’ at the centre and experience donkey grooming, with younger guests taking part in donkey riding sessions.

Debbie Coombes, manager at the Manchester centre, says: “National Volunteers’ Week gives us a fantastic opportunity to say a huge thank you to our team of committed volunteers. We have lots of fun activities planned including a shared picnic and the opportunity to get ‘hands on’ with the donkeys. Our volunteers help in various ways such as leading the rides, supporting the children or grooming the donkeys, providing tremendous support to our staff and to the children who visit our centre.”

EST Manchester accommodates over 170 children with special needs and disabilities from 31 local schools each week and is entirely reliant on donations to carry out its work.
