Local donkey riding therapy charity needs your help

A UK charity based in Abbey Hey will be holding their annual Summer Fair on Saturday 21st August 2010 and need help from the local community, to raise funds to provide free therapy to special needs children in the area.

The Manchester Centre of The Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys, desperately need as many soft toys as possible, bottles for the bottle stall, tombola items, books and bric a brac to help make their summer fair a success.

170 children visit the centre each week and centre manager Debbie Coombes says ”Riding therapy is very special and we use donkeys because of their placid natures. Last year we provided over 8,000 riding sessions free of charge, and we were able to do so, because of our supporters who we are very grateful to. We will be holding our Summer Fair to raise funds so that we can continue to help children with special needs in the local area. So if you can donate any unwanted goods or lend a hand on the day we would be most appreciative of your support”

If you can offer help in any way, the staff at the centre would be delighted to hear from you. You can telephone them on 0161 3014051 or call into the centre which is situated at the bottom of Green Fold, off Abbey Hay Lane at the northern entrance to Debdale Park.
