Donkey summer fair is a great success

Lord Mayor of Manchester and his wife

A charity summer fair held at a donkey riding centre in Abbey Hey on Saturday 21st August has been hailed as a great success!

The Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys (EST) held their annual summer fair to raise funds towards its cause to provide valuable riding therapy to children with special needs.

Debbie Coombes who runs the EST Manchester centre says: “We had a really lovely day and the weather was kind to us. Attractions included an official opening by the Lord Mayor and Mayoress of Manchester, donkey cart rides, dog agility, dog show, Manchester Mounted Police, face painting, charity auction, go Karts, giant inflatable’s there really was something for everyone.

We are grateful to everyone who turned up to support us and we raised thousands of pounds which is a great help!”

The EST Manchester centre accommodates over 170 children with special needs and disabilities from 30 schools each week, all within Manchester and the surrounding area. It makes no charge to the schools, hospitals or parents whose children attend and staffing is strongly supported by a dedicated group of volunteers who help with the riding sessions.
