Donkey charity volunteer to carry the torch

18 year old Emma McLean from Seaton, who volunteers with children with additional needs at The Donkey Sanctuary’s donkey assisted therapy in Sidmouth, has been chosen to carry the Olympic torch through Exeter on Sunday 20th May.

Aspiring doctor Emma has been helping out at The Donkey Sanctuary on Saturdays and during school holidays for over a year now, and says she really enjoys the experience:

The Bible reports that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey on Palm Sunday (which falls on 1st April this year), and each year international animal welfare charity The Donkey Sanctuary is asked to illustrate that link by taking donkeys to church.

Spring Fair at EST Leeds

Families are invited to take part in a Spring Fair being held by international animal welfare charity The Donkey Sanctuary on Saturday 14th April from 10am-2pm to help raise funds for its Leeds donkey assisted therapy centre.

The centre in Eccup is hosting a day of family fun which includes stalls, refreshments and the chance for children to take part in a donkey obstacle course.

Sidmouth Table Top Sale

Sidmouth residents are being invited to bag a bargain at a local riding therapy charity’s Table Top Sale on Saturday 17th March from 10am.

The Parents & Friends Association (PFA) at The Donkey Sanctuary’s Sidmouth riding therapy centre is organising the sale to raise funds so that it can continue its free service.

The sale will run from 10am until 1pm with refreshments available throughout the day. Admission and parking is free for buyers, and sellers will be charged at £5.00 per table.

Families are invited to take part in a spectacular Easter Egg Hunt being held by international animal welfare charity The Donkey Sanctuary on Sunday 1st April at 11am to help raise funds for its Birmingham donkey assisted therapy centre.

The centre in Sutton Park provides donkey assisted therapy for children with additional needs from across Birmingham and its Parents and Friends Association is organising the fun Easter event to raise funds so that it can continue its free service.

EST is calling on the fun loving public to adopt a donkey this Valentine's Day to help raise vital funds.

The charity has six centres located around the UK run by The Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys charity (EST), which provide riding therapy to over 1,000 children from locals schools and hospices every week.
